HAESCO is proud to announce that once again HAESCO will be a supporting organisation for Eco Expo Asia 2012, the premier environmental business event in Asia!

USAID and ADB have jointly organized the Asia Clean Energy Forum (ACEF) since 2006, with the aim of sharing best practices in policy, technology, and finance to meet the region’s climate and energy security challenges. The 2011 Forum was attended by more than 600 people from 55 countries, and attracted more than 160 speakers in 27 sessions and 9 side events.

This year  the Forum will highlight successful strategies and mechanisms for accelerating access to affordable, low-carbon energy. Participants from Asia and around the world will share practical knowledge about what really works in the key areas of energy access, clean energy technology, policy and regulation, and finance and how the stakeholders can work together to accelerate low carbon energy in the region. Topics to be addressed will include:

• innovative programs and business models for increasing access to energy;
• updates on the performance and cost effectiveness of clean energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies;
• what policies, frameworks, and regulatory approaches work best;
• case studies of successful clean energy solutions from around Asia, as well as the US, Europe, Latin America, and Africa; and
• how energy efficiency and renewable businesses and projects can be effectively linked with sources of finance and investment.

Bundling

Some background, the cost of investment and carbon saved from a single large building project just doesn’t interest the city, it’s too small.  For high flying investors, and financiers capital in the region of US$ 10-50 million is interesting.

So for buildings to achieve this scale several projects needed to be packaged or bundled together. Then the quantity of energy efficiency work, the CAPex, and the CO2 credit could reach significance to allow the project proponents to achieve scale and Co2E quantities saleable in the market. Significance is the key word, I mean just offering a few tonnes of REC’s (Carbon Credits or equivalent) is not a transaction that most firms and broker would consider worth the effort.

   7. Refer trades or other specialists only when doing so is in the best interest of the client, and does not detract from the member’s independence.
   8. Only provide an opinion on conditions and matters within the scope of the member’s expertise, education, experience and profession.
   9. To ensure fairness to all parties, not knowingly comment on the work of another member without first discussing the observations with the member concerned
   10. Act in good faith to all.
   11. Uphold the integrity and reputation of this profession.
   12. Respond promptly to any complaints, and not later than seven days.

InnoAsia 2010 – Innovate for a Sustainable World

In an era focused on sustainable development, the effort to address present requirements without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations will be paramount. This is the notion behind “Innovate for a Sustainable World”, the theme adopted by InnoAsia 2010, organized by Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation.

The three-day conference focuses on technology, innovation and commercialisation in connection with developments in energy optimisation, digital living, life sciences, and telecommunications. InnoAsia aims to provide opportunities for entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta Region and Asia region for market promotion and business collaboration, and at the same time to learn from the world renowned experts and to share with industries and practitioners especially in the nearby Pearl River Delta and the Asia Region to inspire ideas through technology transfer and adaptation of innovation. T3 Winner

Standby power waste is a critical issue, the individual appliance losses might be consider small, but when combined together the losses are staggering. Keeping all those Television sets, set top boxes, amps, tuners, and DVD players “ON” 24/7 is an enormous waste of electricity.

Figures are scarce here in Asia, however in studies from Europe identified the opportunity.  One report [link] states that the standby energy for all households in the EU-27 countries amounts to about 43 TWh, and it is responsible for about 19 million tonnes of C02 per year .

Therefore is good to see companies like OneClick Technologies [link] adding yet another award to its collection.  The gadget website T3 [link] has recognized the OneClick (right) as the Green Gadget of the Year 2010.
